Traffic Advisories

The following traffic advisories reflect current conditions as they are known. The listings below reflect construction work that can affect travel on city streets, sidewalks, and trails. Expect traffic delays or use an alternate route, if possible. Please obey construction signs and flaggers. Construction will be conducted in accordance with COVID-19 safety precautions.

Active Projects


Cavendish Court
United Construction will begin road work on Cavendish Court on Thursday, October 7, 2021, and extend until completion. This will involve saw cutting the edges of pavement along the curb, milling the existing asphalt, paving a leveling course of pavement, pulling and resetting the existing curb, adjusting catch basins and manhole structures followed by installing the top layer of pavement. The road will be open during this time frame, however, please expect some delays getting in and out of the local business. Please direct any questions to Public Works at 603-448-3112.

Colburn Park LED Light Replacement
Liberty Utilities will be installing LED Lights on existing poles in and around Colburn Park starting today, October 5, 2021 through October 15, 2021. Please proceed with caution while driving or walking in the area, expect delays and use an alternate route if you can. Thank you for your patience. CSO #13 Project

  • Status: This project is the last of the Combined Sewer overflow projects that the City is undertaking to meet the EPA consent decree. The project's main goal is to take the stormwater out of the sewer mains so that overflows do not occur at the permitted outfalls along the Mascoma and Connecticut Rivers. While this work is being done the City is replacing the old infrastructure at the same time as a holistic approach.

    This project entails approximately 1400 linear feet of roadway construction along South Main Street (12A), with the replacement of storm lines, sewer lines, waterlines, roadway, and new sidewalk and bicycle lanes and 800 linear feet of work in the Romano Circle area encompassing the same type of infrastructure work. Notts Excavating was the low bidder. The project began on June 14th and will continue to the beginning of Nov 2021 with a winter shutdown and then will resume in the spring of 2022 with final lawn restoration, final pavement, and striping.

    Traffic will be kept open along 12A but will be reduced to one lane, alternating traffic. People traveling along this route should expect long delays.

Hillcrest Acres 

  • Status: Final paving on Prospect Street and paving on Moulton Ave. is planned for July 2021. Hillcrest Drive, Skylark, Ledgelane final paving is scheduled for Spring 2022.

Mechanic Street Paving (CSO#11, CSO#12)

  • Status:  Final paving and line striping of Mechanic Street is complete. Final paving and line striping for Mascoma and Bomhower Streets, as well as Freeman, Ora, Myra, and Avon Avenues will occur mid-July 2021.

Miracle Mile Pedestrian Improvement Project

  • Status: Pine hill Construction will begin work on June 28, 2021, and work will be completed prior to October 1, 2021.  The westbound bicycle lane will be closed during construction. At times, the westbound travel lane will be closed to vehicle traffic and will be coned off and traffic diverted to the center lane for westbound travel.
