LPD Transparency 

The Lebanon Police Department is committed to accountability, transparency, fairness, integrity, compassion, respect, and professionalism. To remain committed to and demonstrative of these values, we have posted current policies and procedures that guide the conduct of all Lebanon police officers, which we review and evaluate on a regular basis.

The Lebanon Police Department is in the process of becoming nationally accredited by the Commission on Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). CALEA measures standards of the best practices in all facets of law enforcement.

  1. Are the Lebanon Police Officers forbidden from using carotid restraints (chokehold, neck holds)?
  2. Are the Lebanon Police Officers required to intervene if they witness another officer using excessive force? Will officers be reprimanded if they fail to intervene?
  3. Are Lebanon Police Officers forbidden from shooting at moving vehicles?
  4. Is there a clear and enforced use of force continuum that details what weapons and force are acceptable in various situations?
  5. Are the Lebanon Police Officers required to exhaust every possible option before using excessive force?
  1. Are Lebanon Police Officers required to give a verbal warning each time they threaten to or use deadly force on a person?
  2. Are Lebanon Police Officers required to report each use of force incident?
  3. Are Lebanon Police Officers required to use de-escalation techniques during use of force situations?
  4. Are Lebanon Police Officers required to wear body worn cameras? If so, are these cameras required to be turned on when officers respond to police calls?
