This page contains information about conservation programs in the City of Lebanon as well as ways you can participate and/or volunteer.
With over 2,000 acres of conservation land and 21+ miles of trails to manage, monitor, and protect there is no shortage of opportunities for volunteers. Find out how you can get involved! We have everything from adopting a trail, reporting blow-downs or trail damage, to participating in a specific conservation project.
In 2003, volunteer Nicole Cormen initiated a program of outdoor events around Lebanon, NH. Her goal was to acquaint people with Lebanon's beautiful and varied conserved public lands. She created Wild About Lebanon as a way to showcase the importance of open space, and make sure that all Lebanon residents had the opportunity to visit these properties and learn about the natural world right outside their doors.
Every spring, salamanders, frogs, and toads migrate to vernal breeding pools on “Big Nights” — evenings when temperatures are around 40 degrees or higher and it’s raining. This usually happens on a few nights between mid-March and early May in our region. Big Night volunteers can help these creatures cross safely and help the Lebanon Conservation Commission gather information about amphibian migration “hot spots" in town.
