Detective Bureau
Purpose
The Detective Division investigates most crimes of a serious nature for the arrest and prosecution of the offenders responsible. Some of these crimes include but are not limited to: homicides, assaults, robberies, burglaries, thefts, frauds, sexual assaults, sexually related crimes, and drug investigations.
Responsibilities
The Detective Division is responsible for collecting, processing, classifying, and storing materials or evidence, which could assist in case clearances and/or the identification of suspects or victims. The Detective Division has a court diversion system in place for first time juvenile offenders.
The Detective Division assists other Local, State, and Federal Agencies in the investigation of crimes committed under their jurisdiction. Also, the Detective Division presents all felony cases to the Grand Jury for indictment. The Division is responsible for our state-mandated Sexual Offender Registry.

If you dial this number during regular business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) your call will be directed to the appropriate detective or supervisor. If the person is not in, messages can be left on the detective's voicemail for a return call when they are available. In emergencies or during situations that are in progress, the Communications Center should be called 603-448-1212 or dial 9-1-1.
