Do I still need to call into Lebanon Communications when I begin burning?: Yes, regardless of where you obtain your permit you are still required to call Lebanon Communications at 603-448-1212 prior to kindling your fire. There are 2 reasons for this:
1) this allows the City to control open burning when the fire danger is very high and
2) it prevents the receipt of nuisance fire calls related to open burning.

1. Are fireworks allowed in Lebanon?: According to Chapter 72, Lebanon Code, all retail fireworks other than sparklers are prohibited in the City of Lebanon. Please read complete details on our Fireworks page.

2. How can I get a copy of an incident report?: Please contact Fire Administration at 603-448-8810 to request a report. There is a small copying fee associated with copies.

3. What fire codes apply to my project?: The City is required to enforce the requirements of the State of New Hampshire Fire Code. Additionally, the City has adopted a local Fire Safety Code. 5. Why does the Lebanon Fire Department bill for ambulance services?: All insurance companies include payment for ambulance services in your premium. In an effort to offset the operational costs of providing this service the City has adopted a fee for this service by ordinance. Residents receive a 15% discounted ambulance service rate compared to a non-resident.

6. Who do I contact if I have a question on my ambulance bill?: Please contact Comstar Ambulance Billing Service at 800-488-4351.

7. When is a burn permit required?: Permits are required for all open burning within the City of Lebanon, including fire pits.

Open burning may be suspended by the State of New Hampshire Division of Forest and Lands or by the Lebanon Fire Chief when the fire danger is predicted to be a Class 3 or greater. The fire danger rating for the day can be checked on the Division of Forests and Lands website.

8. Where do I obtain a burn permit?: The City of Lebanon Fire Department has agreed to participate in the State of New Hampshire Division of Forest and Lands Online Burn Permitting System. Please visit https://nhdflweb.sovsportsnet.net for more details.

Burn permits can also be obtained by stopping by either of the two staffed fire stations in the City. Station 1 is located at 12 S Park Street,Lebanon, NH 03766 and Station 2 is located at 63 Main Street, West Lebanon, NH 03784.

For questions, please contact the Lebanon Fire Department at 603-448-8810. After obtaining the burn permit, the Lebanon Dispatch Center must be notified at 603-448-1212 before starting the fire and again after the fire has been extinguished.

9. What can be burned?: Only clean, untreated wood and brush can be burned. Wood and brush cannot be larger than 5 inches in diameter.

10. What items cannot be burned?: Combustible domestic waste as defined by New Hampshire Code RSA-125N, including but not limited to:
- Animal, Vegetable and Cooking Waste
- Coated or Laminated Paper
- Coated or Treated Cardboard
- Household Trash
- Oily Rags
- Packing Material
- Painted or Treated Wood
- Plastic
- Rubber
- Treated Wood or Composite Materials

11. Is there any fee for a burn permit?: There is a small $3 handling charge to support the online permitting system. The City of Lebanon does not receive any revenues for using the system. It maybe possible for you to receive a permit with no charge if you visit our stations rather than obtain the permit online. Station 1 is located at:
